A good music blog's function, first and foremost, should be to get music news out to its followers. But these same blogs can also be used as both tools and vehicles to get out unknown music from little to unknown artists. This can be both a blessing and a curse, as some blogs can fall into the game of getting in bed with certain artists, sacrificing their genuine objective view of one's music for benefits, etc. With all that being said, we don't do that here, it's good music or nothing. Enter Harris Rudman, 21, who hails from Sacramento, California.
We know that Sac-Town isn't necessarily rich with hip-hop history like say New York, L.A., or even Houston. But the beauty of rap is that it doesn't really matter where you're from, or even what you look like, as long as you can spit bars, ride the beat, or both. Rudman's production has an old-school, almost Madlib-type feel, with obscure yet appropriate samples and a West Coast chillwave vibe. He's no slouch with the flow either, spitting complex rhyme schemes coupled with impressive metaphors. Don't take my word for it, just listen to one of his songs from his debut album Alone Time and you'll see the kid's got talent. Above is "D.O.F." one of our favorite tracks, but do yourself a favor and listen to the whole thing, it's worth your time.
